One thing I have realized with this whole experience is that I'm terrible at keeping up with a blog!! Oh well! I vow to myself (not sure if anyone is reading it anyways) to keep up with it better.
Training has been going well. I am realizing just how hard it is to fit it into my schedule. That's very frustrating but understandable. I just do what I can. My brother introduced me to a new word. I am now hooked on LSD. It's how I have to approach my running from now on. Long Slow Distance. And let me tell you, I am slow, that's for sure!
I have been fighting some sort of pain down the front of my left quad. Hurts when I put impact on it. I can't seem to stretch it out. I'm thinking maybe it's my hip flexor or it's a nerve in my back. I just keep thinking that maybe it'll just go away. I guess that I should see the doctor if it doesn't go away on it's own. Just gotta find the time to go. Ughhhh!
I don't feel like I'm doing enough to raise funds for the Preeclampsia Foundation. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Help me please!!
2012 brings my 40th birthday and I've decided to place a BIG fitness/health challenge in my future, raise money for The Preeclampsia Foundation, and blog about it all. This gives me NO way out! Please join me in my quest for CHANGE! (and a peek into my wonderfully crazy life!)
Every step I take is for the Team!

It has been a long time...
Wow, can't believe it's been so long since I have posted! I have been so busy that by night time I am just too pooped to blog.
I have been teaching 7 classes a week and running 3 times a week. Our house was hit by the dreaded stomach bug but we recovered. Had to take a few days off from everything. I think a few days off are in order anyways.
2 weekends ago Brandon and I ran a 23k trail race at Land Between the Lakes. That was so much fun and so very beautiful. Oh, and it was a challenge too! The great thing about trail runs is that you don't realize how far you have gone. The time flies by!
Don't get me wrong, towards the end of the trail race it gets really tough. It gets even tougher when your body gets tired, your feet get lazy, and you start to drag your feet. And when you drag your feet, you trip, and when trip numerous times, eventually you fall! Fall all the way down to the earth...THUD! Really it's not a good thing when an adult falls, it can only turn out bad. Luckily, soreness was the only BAD that came out of my fall. I know that it could have been so much worse. My brother ran an ultra at that race. His fall caused his legs to go into massive cramp mode, locking up his calves so he couldn't flex his feet! He, being the machine that he is, got up, ran through it, and crossed the finish line!
I have 2 purple toenails to show for that race. This means that soon I won't have a nail on my Rt big toe, and no nail on the one next to it! You may ask yourself why would a person put themselves through something like this. That is a very good question! The only way I can answer that is to say that it's just something inside that drives me to do it. I love it, especially running on the trail! There's nothing like it and I'm just not a sit still kind of person. The fact that I'm running for a foundation that is so very close to my heart, well, that just makes it that much more special to me.
When I'm running I think about the time when I was in the hospital and I was trying to make the walk around the nurses station. I think about the women that have and will experience Preeclampsia/Eclampsia. I think that maybe, somehow, I can help to make a difference. I hope I can.

It made me smile,
Right after I finished my last post, Brandon handed me a letter I received in the mail from the Preeclampsia Foundation. I opened it and found that it was from the Executive Director of the Foundation!! She wanted to thank me for what I'm trying to do and to wish me luck on my training!
Wow!!! I feel so good right now!
The past couple of days I have really been questioning if what I'm doing is right or even worth the effort. Thank you, Ms. Tsigas for reassuring me in my journey. You really made my day!www.preeclampsia.org

If it's not this, it's that...
Last week was a good week, a challenging week, but a good week. Brandon was gone to the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville for the whole week. I ended up with a seriously bad sinus infection and all 3 kids were sick too! Fun!! I decided that it was time to nip this 'never ending' snottiness in the bud. Antibiotics all around!
By Friday the 17th we were all doing pretty good and ready for our annual trip to the show. This was also Roddick's 7th birthday (7 already?? really??) He was born while Brandon was at the farm show. An emergency c-section brought him home early. Unfortunately, he didn't make it in time and Roddick was waiting on him when he got to the hospital. Glad he was there because the next few days brought my 1st experience with Eclampsia, 2 seizures. Fast forward 7 years and now I'm running for the cause. I think I'm blessed to have the chance to give back!
With all this said, this last week left the pages of my running journal blank. I was able to teach my classes at the gym but there was no life in these legs to pull out anything else. Sunday I finally got a chance to run and I anticipated a very hard, sluggish outing. But to my surprise I ran like the wind. I pulled out 7 miles (not sure from where it came, but I'm not going to question a good thing!) and felt great the whole way. Now times that by ~6 or so, and I'll be ready for the 50. :-P I did roll my ankle at mile 4 and have had some stress on my lower leg from it but I'm determined to get it back healthy quick!
My next big run will be at Land Between the Lakes in march. I'm really looking forward to it. 14 miles of beautiful trail! This will be only my 2nd time in a trail race. Friends and family will be running too so it's bound to be a great time!
Here's to a not so challenging week ahead! ;-)

Crazy!!
My life this last week has been crazy!
I was only able to run 2 days this past week due to a cold. I took Tuesday off then ran 7.28 on Thursday and 5 Saturday. Both runs, post sick day, were slow, hard, and tiring. But I did it.
Saturday while I was running a photographer from the college Herald (WKU) came out to take pics to go with the story they are doing on this. I felt pretty silly running while someone ran after me taking photos. I think one runs much faster that way!! I can't wait to see the end result!!
Last Sunday I went to Nashville for Zumba training to get my license to teach it. Just because I now have a license to teach it doesn't mean that I have the rhythm to do it!! It's quite humorous actually! I'm practicing, practicing, practicing so hopefully by my first class I'll look a little more like a Zumba instructor than a woman having convulsions! I'm laughing cause it's funny, true, and a great source of entertainment for all!! heeheeheehee
With all this being said, I'm guessing that maybe I can't do it all! Since I tried and ended up getting sick, maybe I'll let a few things go......clean clothes are over rated anyway!!!!

Ooooh! Momma's fast!
It's been a few days since I posted. Thanks to the weather, our internet has been a little sketchy. So let me catch you up...
Sunday I laced up my new Scott trail shoes (Thanks to Trax!) and hit the road, and the trail. 6 miles of farm land and asphalt. I'm not quite sure what was going on with my body that day but it felt like I was trying to run through knee high mud! Each one of my legs felt like they weighed 100 pounds each! I thought I'd never finish. But I did and I wrapped up the week with 14 miles.
Tuesday I was able to run outside since all the kids were in school. I made it back to the house just in time to fit in 5 miles (along with a 35 mi/hr head wind) before the clouds opened up and dumped a bunch of rain. This would be the same storm that carried tornado that touched down in Simpson county! Whew! Good thing I got that run out of the way early!
Today, I felt like a Jill-of-all-trades! One of my daily mantras is "I can do it all!" (though somebody may not have any clean underwear) Today was one of the days I tried very hard to prove my mantra right. Here goes: Up early to get the kids ready (lucky to have hubby's help with this part,) off to drop Roddick at school, drive to the next school where we have to wait 30 min before doors open, this making time for me to sew a button on Salem's shirt, take Salem and Paisley into school, drive to BG to GMC dealership to take Yukon in for recall fix on door handles, run from there to my turn around point (MapMyRun was supposed to tell me where there the 2.5 mile mark was,) run back to dealership, realize MMR had messed up SO today I logged 6 miles, Yukon still not ready, into the bathroom where I took a spit bath (needed in order to be able to sit among other people and them not pass out,) 45 min later Yukon ready, stop at shoe store to get new gym shoes (and super cute boots for Peanut,) drive back to Franklin to get the little ones, pick up a few items at the DG market, get in line to pick up Roddick, while waiting get a few subs needed for classes at the gym, drive home, bathe (everyone's thankful for this!,) homework time, get supper ready, get items ready for the meeting I had with my instructors tonight (best instructors ever!!,) go to gym (eat on the way,) have a meeting, go home, kiss my babies, hang up clothes, get in bed, & BLOG! I'm exhausted just writing it!
The best thing about the MapMyRun messing up?? It told me my average speed was 96 mi/hr! Funny! But was it talking about my run, or was it talking about the speed at which I go through my day??
